First Stampin Up Card!

Ok, so I get my Stampin Up kit this week and it was totally Christmas Morning for me!  I pulled out set after set of lovely stamps, yummy paper and delicious ink!  It was time to play!!!!  oh.. bother!  It was time to go back to work and afterward the kids projects were waiting.  Trying to be a good girl, I put it all back in the box.  Last night, with everything finished and out of the way, I went to bed dreaming of my new toys.

This morning.. I had a few extra minutes and I had to make something!   I just had to.  This card came together really fast with a couple of the stamps from the Season of Joy set, stamped in Real Red on paper scraps that I had on hand.

What do you think?

Pharaoh

Ok, the trading card is not finished yet, but here's the newest stamp that I carved.  One of my most intricate to date.  I carved it with an #0 gouge under maginification on the mysterious gray stuff.  This sample is done on Whisper White card stock from Stampin Up and colored with the Gamsol Magic technique.

Update:  The trading cards are FINALLY finished!  40 of these and I'm just about ready to t GIVE this stamp away!   LOL  Well maybe not, but I'm glad this set is finished!

Look what I did!

I signed up to be a Stampin' Up demonstrator today!  Yippee!  I get to play and share the fun with others.  Check out my web site and have a look at the stamp pads.  These things are awesome!  The covers are attached and flip to the back for inking up.  This means that they will NOT come off in your bag when you are out boxing~  You can also use this ink to shade your stamped images on your ATC/LTCs and cards!  Totally a huge money saver!  They don't cost any more than the pads at your local craft store (less than some) AND you can get matching ink refills.  I just know you are going to love these stamp pads as much as I do!! Can I get a woohoo???

I'm a little excited about it~

deniserows with RAK to the post office

Check out this lovely log book/journal that deniserows made for me.  Thank you so much Denise!  I love it!!!!!

Sketch Saturday Challenge

My very first card challenge ever!  I wanted to make a card that could hold an ATC/LTC as the primary image on the front, but still be removable. This is the type of thank you card I wanted to send to deniserows for the RAK/Christmas Present she made and sent to me.  So the challenge is a perfect way for me to try it out.  Here's the two I came up with, what do you think? Why two?  Because it's just as easy to make two as it is to make one!

The idea is that the receiver can take the ATC/LTC off of the card, log it in, insert their own LTC and RAK someone else with the card.  Of course, if they don't want to send it on, but rather keep the card as a way to display their current favorite LTC, well now that's ok too.

Anyway, I'm loving making cards!

Ancient Beast

From the depths of time this beast arises. Archeologist stunned the world today when they emerged from a temple in the deepest jungles of South America with this ancient document. The fragile skin depicts a creature that resembles the Cthulhu of Lovecraft's fiction.

Could he have found this place in his travels? Could he have seen the reliefs carved into the temple walls? See this crumbling document and decide for yourself!

_______________

There will be a limited number available to trade outside of KT's swap. Joey carved this stamp and made the impressions on white card stock. Mom took over there. Now you know what happens when you let someone else play with your precious stamped images! Bwahhhhahahahahahahaha

Ok, how'd this happen?  Joey stamped the image in black on white card stock.  I tore and scraped the edges to rough them up.  Then I inked the entire surface in a medium brown ink.  Next I waded the paper up a couple of times and opened it without smoothing.  The edges and raised surfaces were inked with coffee brown.  Finally walnut ink was used at the edges.  I used foam dots to raise the "parchment" off the background paper.

Three from Two - World Card Making Day

For World Card Making Day, I challenged the kids and I to make three cards with only two sheets of paper. We could use other scraps, but the primary papers would be a florial that Morgan chose and a lavender card stock that was Joey's choice. I had note cards from a gift set that someone had given me a few years ago, so we used those as bases.

First, Morgan's creation. There was a little assistance with some things, but for the most part, it's all her design. The stamp is from a foam set that her brother brought home from school. The papers were from a pack purchased at a scrap yard sale at a local scrapbooking store.

Next is Joey's. He lost interest after cutting the pieces so I put it together for him. The front looked a little plain, so I chose a sentiment and framed it in white then pop dotted that over another piece of the lavender that was inked with the color used for the stamps. His stamps were a $1.00 set of clear stamps from Michael's.

Finally, my own. I used what was left after they made theirs and I'm pretty happy with it. The dark card stock is a scrap that I had from an LTC project. I'd stamped generic dragonflies onto it with bleach and just couldn't bring myself to throw it away.

I also did the inside of my card and there was even enough left over to add accents to the envelopes.

Great fun and we have three matching cards!
